(i) General

What is Eftel Speak?

Eftel’s Speak is a new line rental and local calls, plus national, international and mobile service from your fixed line telephone. You can now make some great savings by choosing Eftel for all your national, international and calls to mobiles. Better still, you can save even more if you combine your Eftel dial-up or broadband Internet service with Speak all on a single bill.

Is Speak reliable?

Yes! Speak uses a carrier grade network to provide high quality and reliability.

Do I still need another carrier?

No.

What do I get if I combine my Internet and Speak?

Combining your Eftel services is called ‘bundling’. Select speak@home lite or speak@home plus as well as Eftel Broadband ADSL and receive between $10 & $20 off your monthly broadband fee. More information on Broadband ADSL.

Or you can select Eftel Speak@home lite or speak@home plus and combine it with an eligible Eftel dial-up service and you can receive between $5 and $8 off your monthly dial-up fee. More information on dial-up.

Please note: Bundled discounts will only apply to customer accounts that have a minimum monthly Internet access fee of $15 for dial-up or $30 for broadband.

Does it cost to join?

No. There are no joining fees or charges to become an Eftel Speak member. However, there may be fees in regards to phone line connections and technician work. For more information, see below.

What if I require a new phone line / new connection / technician visit?

There are charges associated with connecting a new phone line, and with reconnecting a current phone line. It is important to note that the information provided is a guide only. What work your telephony service requires cannot be determined until a technician visits your premises.

(ii) Application process

Will I need to contact my current phone provider to change to Speak?

No, in most cases we are able to automatically switch you over to Speak without requiring you to contact your existing provider.

How long does it take for Speak to become 'active'?

Once we have received your application details, most new accounts will be activated within 5 working days.

Is there a fixed contract?

No. There is no lock-in contract with Speak. You can leave whenever you like, just give us one calendar month's notification in writing of your intention to leave.

Will I get another bill?

No, you will not receive an ‘extra’ bill. You will continue to receive your monthly Eftel Internet bill, which will now include line rental and local calls, plus national, international and calls to mobiles from your home or business phone.

When will I receive my bill?

You will continue to receive your current Eftel bill each month, but with the added Speak service charges included.

How do I pay for Speak?

A monthly account keeping fee of $3.00 applies for all speak services not on an auto-payment method. You can easily avoid this charge by choosing to pay your bill via direct debit from your nominated bank account, or via auto-payment from your nominated credit card. These are the benefits you will receive from choosing this convenient and easy way to pay:

  • You'll never forget to pay your bill; it's automatically done for you.
  • You won't have the hassle of traveling to pay your bill at the post office, making a phone call to your bank, or remembering when it's due.

To pay via direct debit from your nominated bank account or via auto-payment from your nominated credit card, please download an autopayment form. Other payment options include:

  • By Phone - Credit Card payments 1300 550 550 (press 1 for accounts)
  • BPAY - You will find these details on your invoice.
  • Post Pay - Take the posted (not emailed) invoice to the post office. They will scan the bar code for you to make payment.
